traveling with dante, 2016

in january, my little sister & I took a trip to disney world during our long holiday break in florida (a place that gets v boring after a week). we stayed in some cheesy sports themed disney hotel, and we literally left the parks early every night to hang out in disney springs. yes we are middle aged women!!!

during our spring break, we went to oslo, norway and copenhagen, denmark. oslo was.... not the greatest experience. unfortunately, we encountered some prejudice (read: RACIST) people who made us uncomfortable. but the art district was filled with gorgeous murals and kind locals who deleted the bad taste left in our mouths from the previous days. copenhagen was incredible. we stayed in a hostel, which dante wasn't initially thrilled about, in the middle of nyhavn. the food was great, the city was pretty, and the people had this altruism you don't really see in cities of america. really really want to go back.

had a 20 hour layover in stockholm on my way back to the states from my abroad time in paris. the city in july is gorgeous. I got in ~10am and spent the day walking along the water, eating herring (actually incredible), writing in small cafes & parks. lowkey obsessed with sweden.... someone come back with me

some disposable shots from my visit to london. heather & I walked around aimlessly on the 4th of july & somehow ended up at this high key multi-leveled nightclub with a group of random kids. I somehow avoided paying for the tube the entire time lol. some of the funniest memories of the summer.

à bientôt paris

a few remaining photos from my canon at-1 & disposable camera. studying abroad in paris for 7 months was one of the best decisions I've made in my life. I will never forget the anxiety, awe, inspiration, and pure happiness I felt while navigating such a foreign place. it became familiar and it changed my life. à la prochaine mon coeur

rue de rochechouart

so this summer I decided to extend my stay in paris to conduct research sponsored by the columbia european institute. I'm studying the transnational identities of native american men who have been recruited by disneyland paris to work as "bareback riders" in their buffalo bill's wild west show. so far I've met really cool guys & am getting to understand how they adapt to their new environments, sometimes permanently.

aside from that, I'm living in a studio near montmartre paris. this is the first time I've ever lived alone like this (sans roommate/host parent) & I absolutely love it. I have so much freedom to do my work & make things I've always wanted to. during my time in paris I've started writing & recording little tunes under the moniker ultra doux & I'm taking so many more photos of nothing. since moving from the 5th to the 9th arrondissement, I've gotten to explore so much more of paris than I ever could during the semester. leaving rue de rochechouart is going to be really hard.
